An updated Troop 51 Guidebook has been
uploaded to the forms page.
Troop 51 Meeting September 19th, 2010
During this meeting, each of the Patrols
can decide if they want to keep their current name or change to a new
one based on the names of the BSA standard patrol patches. The Troop
will order the patches for the patrols but only if they are named after
one of the standard names - custom patches will not be ordered. Patch
orders must be turned in after the 9/19 meeting.

Eagle Court of Honor
Please join Troop 51 as we honor our
three newest Eagle Scouts, Danny Sheehan, Derek Deiter, and Alan
Morrison. All three Court of Honors will be held in the sanctuary
gathering area at FUMC in the usual spot for Eagle CoHs.
Danny Sheehan’s Eagle CoH
will be held on Saturday,
September 4th at 3:00pm .

will be held on Sunday, September
5th at 2:00pm

Troop Meeting Sunday August 22nd
- Troop Elections will be held for the upcoming term. Patrols will
decide whether to chose a new name and meals will be planned for the
upcoming campout. Also remember to
submit campout payment and form.
This Sunday is also last day to sign up for board of review and turn in
any completed merit badge blue cards for the September 12th Court of
Honor.
Troop Dues – The dues are
$35 and they are due by the end of September. Starting October 1, the
dues go up to $40. ·

Due to facility schedule conflicts, the
BoR has been rescheduled. The
next Board of Review will be on Wednesday, September 1st. If a scout

no later than Sunday, August 22nd at the
Troop Meeting. The Troop calendar has been updated.
Merit Badges
All completed merit badge blue cards need to be
turned into the Merit Badge Coordinator, Jenny Sheehan by
Sunday, August 22nd
in order to receive the badge at the September Court of Honor.

Troop Dues
The Troop collects dues in September and February
of each year. The dues are used to pay for things like annual
registration fees, Boy’s Life subscriptions, advancement and merit
badges, camping equipment, etc. The dues are $35 and they are due by the
end of September. Starting

Annual Scout Accounts Reset
– Each Scout should use up any remaining funds in their accounts, such
as for the August or September campouts, before September 30th, as that
is when they will reset to $0. Any unused fund go to the main Troop
treasury.
Eagle Project - Scout Dillon
Greer is collecting unused video games, game systems, controllers, etc.
for his Eagle Project for the Scottish Rite hospital. Dillon will be
delivering and setting up the systems for the hospital sometime in

Troop meeting on 7/25
– Prepare for some water fun! For the Troop
meeting on the 25th we will spend the afternoon at Hawaiian Falls in The
Colony. The cost is $20 per Scout (discounted rate), and we can accept
exact cash only. We will not be able to make change. See the

details. Family members are welcomed to attend.

Troop 51 is going camping!!
We depart for Summer Camp this Sunday, June 20 (Happy Father's
Day, dads!)
We will meet at the SE corner of Preston & Main in the old Brookshire's
parking lot, plan on arriving at 08:45AM. We will load
gear, collect medicine, take roll and even try to pull off a group
photo. The plan is to pull out by 09:30. The drive to Clements is
approximately 2.25 hours, which puts us in camp around lunch. Check in
can take a while, so please plan to send your Scout with a brown bag
lunch.

Scouts must bring their Scout Handbook to this Sunday's meeting to sign

Buffalo River Canoe Trip
Plans are being made for our annual canoe trip. This is approximately a
57 mile trip and it is a lot of fun. To participate, the Scout must
have earned the Swimming merit badge. Registered adult leaders can sign
up too. Please sign up with our Activities Coordinator and provide a
$10 deposit.

May's Scoutmaster Conference and Board of Review
The BoR is scheduled for May 12th at 7:00PM - you must
sign up no later than May 9th (this Sunday) with
Mrs. Fallgatter.
Patrol Leadership Council Meeting
The PLC will be meeting before the Troop meeting on May
16th at 2:00PM. All SPL, ASPL, PL, Guides, Scribes Scouts need to
attend.
May's Troop Meetings
Most of the requirements for the Emergency Preparedness Merit
badge (Eagle required) will be covered during the 2 Troop meetings in
May and at the May campout. Each Scout is required to download and
complete the merit badge workbook. See the Links
page to download the workbook.

Eagle Scout Project
Alex Mason will be working on his
Eagle Project this Saturday April 24th and any
Scout looking to earn service hour credits is invited to attend.
Plan on spreading mulch at the Public Food Garden located at
8641 1st St, Frisco, TX 75034 (1st. street and Ash). Wear old
work clothes and bring a shovel and gloves. RSVP to
Alex Mason.
Summer Camp Meeting for Parents
Will be held during this Sunday's Troop meeting at 3:00PM.
Parents of all Scouts planning to attend summer camp should
attend this meeting. Medicine, costs, classes, medical records
and more will be covered followed by a Q&A session.
Troop Meeting and Troop T-shirts and Troop Garage Sale.
Scouting skills will continue to be the theme for this Sunday's
Troop meeting and the all new Troop 51 activity t-shirts will be
on sale for $8 each. Also, sign up sheets for the Troop 51
garage sale will be available. This is normally a HUGE
event and big fundraiser for the Troop. Please
sign up for as many shifts as you can and we can always use help
loading large items into trucks/vans/cars. It is also a very fun
activity!
Tracker Merit Badge
Interested Scouts must signup with
Elizabeth Brady no later than
May 1st. We will be hiking at
Arbor Hills Park in Plano on May
8th with a second session on
May 16th where
Scouts will make a plaster mold of an animal track to complete
the merit badge. For the first session on May 8th, Scouts should
wear good hiking boots or tennis shoes and bring their own water
and a energy snack along with a small notepad and a pencil.
Only
Scouts who attend the first session on May 8th can attend the
second session on May 16th.

April Campout
Camporee is an annual district wide campout that focuses on
Scouting Skills.
Permission Slip and payment are due this Sunday at the Troop
Meeting
Arrive: Fri, April 16th @ 5:00 PM to load gear
at the church
Depart: Fri, April 16th @ 5:30 PM for camp
Return: Sun, April 18th @ 11:00 AM at the
church
Campsite: Camp James Ray, near Pottsborro, TX
Cost: $33 per scout/adult (covers food,
transportation & camp fee)
Troop 51 Summer Campout 2010
Summer camp is approaching! At this Sundays (April 11th) meeting
Troop 51 will be collecting deposits of $105 with a with a final
payment due May 16th )130 for registration, $100 for early
birds).

A parent summer camp meeting will be held Sunday April 25th. We
are asking the parents of all scouts who plan to attend summer
camp to please attend this meeting. The primary purpose is to
review the class offerings and make sure your scouts get signed
up for the right classes. A separate message will be sent that
includes information to review prior to the meeting.
